Portrait of J.S. Maitland

Notes on the Architect/Designer

Architect responsible was James Steel Maitland, 1887-1982. The Russell Institute was built in 1926-27 and displays a blend of styles, visibly, Art Deco and Arts & Crafts. Interesting use of a variety of materials in the staircase that exudes a geometry of shapes and lines.
